Baby Drake showed us quite the dance moves for being only one month old.
He decided to skip his nap that day, but still managed to look awfully cute for his first photo shoot ![]()

I found these photos on an old hard drive from last summer and I couldn’t help but post them.
We spent a lot of early evenings taking walks around the neighborhood and sometimes my camera came with us. (Like this time, as well.)
Despite Brandon’s absolute opposition to being in front of the camera, sometimes I can get a few “sneak-attack” shots. -”I’m just testing the light,” I tell him. Hah.
Oh summertime, how I miss you…
This was one of my favorite sessions ever. While their upcoming wedding will take place on a beautiful farm under a 200-year-old oak tree, they wanted a more hip, downtown, urban feel for their engagement shoot. Which of course I happily obliged
Despite the weather being absolutely freezing, Alex leaving for China the next day for 5-6 months AND it being his birthday, Alex and Sarah were rock stars and I loved exploring the Delmar Loop area with them!
I seriously had to stop myself from posting every single image from their shoot…

Huge thanks to Vintage Vinyl and Moonrise Hotel for allowing us to come in, get away from the cold, and take some fun photos!
Last week, as you saw, was Brandon and I’s two-year anniversary. We took a few days off work and had a little stay-cation.
Instead of blowing up your instagram feed, I snapped a few pics with my iPhone and kept them to myself, so I could share them with you all at once.
“Snapshots” is also going to be a regularly appearing feature here on the blog. Sometimes with the iPhone and sometimes with the big camera.
This one you saw if you follow me on instagram:
We started it all off with breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Nothing like a little friendly competition and pancakes to start the day off right. If you’ve never played that game before, you have to try to get as few of those golf tees as possible to be left by jumping over the other pieces and removing the piece you jump over (make sense?). We both got down to two that day… And then may or may not have gone back a couple of days later to try to have only one tee standing… And we did
The next day we went and ate at our favorite little Middle Eastern restaurant. Lots of weird sounding food, but it’s so good. I love the decorations and pillows around the booth, too!
We stayed down town after seeing a concert (Ellie Goulding!) and ate at a lovely coffeehouse & creperie for breakfast the next morning.
We walked around down town shopping and got caught in a little surprise snow storm… And I wished I had worn different shoes.
Coffee in bed delivered by my wonderful husband in the cutest little flower cup.
Little signs of Spring.
The rabbit outside our house my husband is trying to make friends with. I think it’s working. I sure can get awfully close.
Dinner & desserts with friends. Two different restaurants.. both involved jars.
Today is my TWO YEAR anniversary.
A part of me feels super strange saying that because it feels like twenty-two. In a good way
We got married on January 29, 2011, on a snow covered day… Which was perfect for our small, cozy, winter-wonderland themed wedding.
Here are a few of my favorite images from our day…

Happy Anniversary, darling. Here’s to a million more.
Hello, friends.
Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new year. (Although, I’m sure you didn’t need me to tell you that.)
With the new year approaching, I figured it was a perfect time to make some changes around here. The first of which being my presence on this blog. I will be blogging a bit more & that will also include more personal posts. Not simply posts from previous photo sessions.
Hopefully this will help you all get to know me a little better. If you ever have any questions or topics of things you’d like to discuss feel free to email me, comment on here, or find me on Facebook.
Let’s just start this off by giving you a couple updates as to what’s been going on around here lately…
(I pulled these photos from instagram as a way to quickly get this post out, so please excuse the poor quality and repetitiveness if you already follow me on instagram. If you don’t and would like to my username is: daniellecastle. Original, I know.)
One of my weddings was featured on St. Louis Best Bridal and was also featured in the St. Charles newspaper in the Best Bridal section. This was super unexpected and humbling, but a great highlight to my first year of officially being in business. I’m definitely aiming high for this next year!
This little (and by little I mean huge, gigantic, bigger than my head) fellow is the latest member in my {camera} family. I’m planning on using this in quite a few of my wedding and family sessions. There’s nothing like getting a couple instant shots to take home with you that very same day.
And lastly,
I posted this photo on Instagram immediately after my last wedding, on December 15th, asking everyone to guess what they thought this was. I was actually using my Fujifilm instant camera to snap a shot of an image on my camera screen, which is why it’s so blurry. Despite the blurriness though, some were able to somewhat guess what it was. Here’s the actual photo:
I hope everyone has a safe and fun New Year’s Eve tonight. Look for more updates and changes coming soon!
The family that started it all.
This family has a special place in my heart because they took a chance on me. They let themselves be my first official family session ever. The day I decided to put on my big girl photographer pants, put myself out there, and say, “..uhh..I can take your family photos.”
What can I say? I have a way with words.
Almost exactly one year after taking my first family photos, their family photos, I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph them again. This time, at a Christmas tree farm!
As much as I adore this family, I LOVED this session. Christmas trees, snowflakes, & a vintage sled. What could be better?
I loved getting to be apart of this wedding. Not only was it an incredibly beautiful October day, but Jake & Caitlin really took a lot of thought into making their day truly special and unique to them.
And seriously, when you see them together.. they just have the look. They are in love!
The penny was from the year their parents were married. See, told you.. personal touches. Love them!
Their rings are super unique. They have each of their finger prints engraved inside.
You know it’s going to be a fun reception when “Apples to Apples” are involved!
I loved being able to pull them away for a brief, quiet moment together during the reception.
I mean come on, those looks for each other kill me!
And obviously I’m going to adore the mustache sunglasses. It’s like they planned their wedding with me in mind!
Jake & Caitlin,
Thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity to be a part of your wedding day! The love you two have for each other is completely evident and so refreshing to be around. You made my job incredibly easy!
